The Hottest 2015 Black Friday Toys!

Kids Toys

Every year around this time they start to create a stir. We’re talking about the ubiquitous lists that are starting to pop up, the famous “catalog” and such, not to mention the commercials. Basically, everything is steering you toward the inevitable…

The Hottest 2015 Black Friday Toys!

Once upon a time you could pick up a rock, hand it to your child, and say “have fun with that.” Of course, the days of Cro-magnon are long gone, and many folks would probably tell you that nowadays, it’s a bit more difficult to grab just the right plaything to give a child as a gift.

But there’s plenty of good news as well. First of all, there were very few sellers back in the “good old days.” This means you were forced to pay full price (usually a pelt or some nuts of some kind) to pay for it. In 2015, you have your choice of thousands of sellers, many of them selling the same items, creating competition that brings down prices. And yes, that means price drops on even the world’s most popular toys.

Which toys are the most sought-after changes annually, of course. One year it’s a talking plush, another it’s a funny looking doll, the next it’s a tablet that teaches kids to read. That makes it a little difficult to keep up with what’s hot. But that’s why we’re here.

And so, without further ado, here are some of our favorite toys (in no particular order) that you’ll probably find on all of those “lists.” Technically, this means we’re committing that same, unforgivable gaffe which we love to make fun of when others do it. But in the name of the public interest, we gotta do what we gotta do.

*Below we’ve also included approximate prices for each item. These are based on averages from a number of different sellers, along with our own experience from 12 years of doing this. Because saving money is something we’re actually quite serious about. We’ll post the hottest Black Friday toy deals here in our Deals section as they pop up around the web throughout the holiday season.*

Play All Day Elmo
While some cynical folks may be tired of the Sesame Street star, children can’t seem to get enough of Elmo. This toy goes for about $40, and loves to be tickled. You can play eight different games with him, and hear him answer with 150 witty responses.

Spirograph Deluxe Design Set
Hooray for nostalgia! This old classic is back and the deluxe set has everything you need to enjoy swirling your pen around and making fun circular designs of all kinds, all for about $24.

Girl Scouts Cookie Oven
It actually bakes cookies, is safe to use, and did we mention it bakes cookies? And here’s the best part – a package of cookie mix is included so you can make Thin Mints yourself!

Lego Star Wars
Choose from video games, LEGO building toys, apparel, and hundreds of other items which combine two of America’s favorites!

Jurassic World Chomping Velociraptor Head Toy Figure
For about $20, you can get the head of one of the already iconic and exceptionally frightening Dino from the most recent movie. Why just the head? That way he can’t chase you. That would be scary.

Lego Dimensions Video Games
Available for multiple platforms, this one helps you create a new universe in which superheroes do battle in popular fictitious worlds that are far from their comfort zone. The starter pack goes for about $100 and features Batman traveling the famous “Yellow Brick Road.”

Fisher-Price Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo
For roughly $35, you can get this awesome little character named BeatBo. Parents and kids alike rave about this one, because the little personage is a heckuva dancer, lighting up, shaking his hips and inspiring children to do the same.

Air Hogs Star Wars Remote Control Ultimate Millennium Falcon Quad
Wait, a Millenium Falcon that actually flies? For just over $100? This might be one I’ll get for myself. You can fly it from as far away as 200 feet, and it produces lights and sounds from the “real thing.”

Osmo Gaming System for iPad
Kid took your iPad again? Well, pick this excellent system so that they’ll at least learn something when they do. They can play and create their own games (four can be downloaded for free at ITunes) and it works with all newer model iPads. This one sells for an average price of about $85.

Disney Descendants
Tired of the classics? Thankfully, Disney has created an entirely new generation spawned from their own iconic characters. This of course has spawned an enormous new group of products including dolls, toys, video games and more, all honoring the son of Prince Charming and Cinderella, the daughter of Mulan, and the second cousin of Scooby Doo! (That last one is probably incorrect. Oh well.) Prices vary quite a bit, and generally start about $5 for smaller toys.

Minions
Perhaps the greatest movie of all time! Well, I enjoyed it anyway. More importantly my son and millions of kids like him simply loved it. That means there are plush toys that talk (well sort of), themed apparel, and especially the movies on blu-ray and DVD on the lists of many children this holiday season. We hope Bob, Stuart and Kevin are getting some of the royalties. It’s the only fair thing to do. Depending on what you buy, there are Minion toys available from just a couple of dollars and up.
